I often wonder how many people are doing the same thing as me when they are in a spa. Particularly in London or major Metropolitan style cities. .

I do appreciate a good review even though it is mainly focused on the actual spa facilities and services (as it should be) but nobody has ever mentioned the best place to work or focus 🤣

Yeah, there are some pretty nice lounges and common areas in nice establishments for people to work from, but have you ever tried the spa / pool side? It’s a different experience I’m telling you. There’s nothing like doing your emails from a Jacuzzi, or laying down on a lounge chair beside the pool. If it’s an extra nice spa, they have areas for just sleeping and relaxing and that’s a good quiet spot to get things done. They say you if you want your own schedule and time, to own your own business and freedom but I’ll tell you that time is a scarce thing when you’re an owner, and an ill one at that. I highly recommend sticking to your 9 to 5 if you aren’t into self-development because I am convinced business is self-development in disguise. Not the performative LinkedIn kind.

There’s just something really special about being left alone in silence near water and heat. I don’t know if it’s because I get overstimulated or always pulled in multiple directions but it sure is nice. Bonus points if the spa likes you and lets you in when nobody else is there hehe

Some people like Starbucks, some people like being at a beach club in a foreign country that is so stereotypically predictable (think Miami, Marbella, Barbados ZZzz). Whatever floats your boat although with those type of environments I like to actually appreciate what is going on around me. I think I am too “Type A” to do the whole “digital nomad” thing. I do love a park on a beautiful sunny day but too hyperviligent with everything going on around me, and I just want to get up and walk and explore. Before I got this sick, one of my favourite things in life was taking my trips away, and having a day that is dedicated to work even if it means working in a pretty environment that is meant to be leisure. Best of both worlds, right?

I’ve done this in so many different countries. Testing the spa while getting work done at the same time. I firmly believe it is underrated and I suggest this adaptation to anyone who can. Follow me for more well-being tips and tricks on productivity xoxo

The places that made it into my Top 10. Bonus points if you can guess where. Extra points if you’ve been and had the capability of relaxing like a normal person.

Runner ups:

1. Barcelona (rooftop style pools) – air smelt dodgy 50% of time, sometimes the heat is uncomfortable

2. My friends Villa in South France – it’s not public and I’m not a weirdo who takes photos of my friends pools hahaha

3. Tenerife resort (surprisingly) – only when it’s super quiet which is rare…not worth the effort. Not an ideal deal place to work from either because it’s such a vacation environment and atmosphere. Almost feels wrong in a way

4. The good Hilton’s – just not as top if we’re comparing…Waldorfs and Curio Collection included. Usually if they have a spa the location is a bit poo poo and I don’t like the timings which does affect the overall experience. I appreciate a good chain because you know what you’re getting and it feels familiar. The reward system is usually better as well so you get extra perks and upgrades if you’re a loyal member. The treatments could be better even though this is about working. Also, there’s normally something not working right in a Hilton spa no matter what country you go to but that could just be my luck 🤣

5. The Merrion Hotel in Ireland – Dublin is small. Sometimes you just don’t want to see people you know.

Special recognition- my car parked in-front of a beautiful view on a clear sunny day. The anxiety that you only have limited time due to battery can ruin the experience if you’re proper nerding out with a laptop. It’s cosy, but like the park, it’s distracting and you just want to focus and appreciate the nature more rather than get stuff done!

Who knows, maybe my new list of recommendations will be different hospitals and different areas within them 🤣

I also firmly believe that people who claim they “really love drinking cucumber water” are lying, and trying to convince both of us that it’s good. The same with Matcha pre-gentrification, and before the million gallons of syrup to make it drinkable have gone in. Just drink the coffee, it’s going to be okay.

I used to be chronically online, now I’m chronically sick.

I’ve always articulated myself better through words, so I suppose I’d better write some of it down before I RIP.

I was one of YouTube’s first paid creators before content creation was a thing, and my personal blog was one of the most viewed back in those days. Nowadays, I’m running a business, dealing with double organ failure, helping my community, and trying to save my own life at the same time.
